A Tribute to Joshua Woods
The Family of Joshua Woods was honored last Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. Joshua was killed
in the tragic accident at Midway airport last December when a plane slid through the wall and crushed the family’s car
killing Joshua. Joshua’s great grandparents, Cliff and Ludena Peters, were members of the church. So as the church
continued its Triumph and Tragedy Sunday series, thought it appropriate to honor the Woods. Pastor Jack Schaap said,
“We just want to love on you folks a little.”The Woods were interviewed by Pastor Schaap about the incident and
Joshua in particular. Josh was “Always smiling.” His dad said, and “Willing to help anybody. He would split his time
up with his brothers, he would play with Joey for a while. He’d play with Jacob. He’d play with Matthew. He was just a
wonderful, wonderful person, and his school loved him.”
A trio of preachers sang a song about Heaven as pictures of Joshua were shown on the churches I-MAG screens.
To conclude the tribute, gifts were given to the Woods that included music CDs, Bibles, books on comfort, money for
shopping and a family picture. These were presented by First Baptist Church members who they themselves had lost
children recently.
