II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Farewell to Dr. Jerry Falwell
First Baptist Church regrets the passing of a very strong moral voice in America. For over 35 years Dr. Jerry Falwell has been a voice for America and the common man, to the politician and to the layman. He has been a voice for the educated and the uneducated.

Dr. Falwell grew up with an alcoholic father and a spiritual anchor for a mother. God has used Dr. Falwell to start a church, a college, ministries for unwed mothers, and God has used him to influence a country. Thirty years ago the former pastor of First Baptist Church, Dr. Jack Hyles, and Dr. Jerry Falwell were good friends and shared each other's pulpits and a common burden for America. Dr. Falwell should long be remembered for his moral conviction and his commitment to the integrity of God's Word. Pastor Jack Schaap and the congregation of the First Baptist Church extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Mrs. Falwell and the family during their time of loss.
