Hammond, Indiana— Gracia Burnham is to speak at the First Baptist Church of Hammond on November 4 at 10:30 a.m. In 2001 Martin and Gracia Burnham lived a year-long nightmare in the Philippine jungles as captives of the Abu Sayyaf, a terrorist group with ties to al-queda. During rescue efforts, Martin was shot and killed, along with one other hostage. USA Today reported that “The Burnhams, under torturous conditions, befriended their guards, comforted their fellow hostages, and kept their faith in a God Who seemed to have abandoned them.” During their ordeal as hostages on the run, they struggled to live a life of faith. In the process, they discovered the true condition of their own hearts—and of the heart of God.

The public is invited to hear Gracia Burnham’s inspirational story. Every guest (aged 18 and older) will receive a free copy her book, In the Presence of My Enemies! The services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2007, in the Main Auditorium of the First Baptist Church, which is located at 473 Sibley Street in Hammond, Indiana. For more information, call 219.932.0711.
