Spiritual Growth Has Economic Impact
44th Annual International Pastors’ Conference a boost to Northwest Indiana’s economy and American pastors.

Hammond, Indiana— Thousands of pastors and church ministry staff combine with over one million dollars of tourist income to Northwest Indiana under one theme – Prayer. First Baptist Church of Hammond, one of the 50 most influential churches in America as deemed by Outreach Magazine, and Pastor Jack Schaap host the 44th Annual International Pastors’ School, March 19 through March 22. Pastors, laymen, and Christian leaders from 49 states and 15 foreign countries are registered for this year’s event. The theme for this year is “With Christ in the School of Prayer,” emphasizing the need of prayer and Christ in our lives.

Pastor Schaap said, “This past June I began a series on Sunday nights preaching on “Prayer” to our congregation at the First Baptist Church of Hammond. I thought I would be there just four or five weeks, and we’ve gone over five months on that theme. Almost immediately I thought, ‘This is a theme that needs to be addressed at Pastors’ School.’”

Each afternoon there will be over 290 Practical Training classes taught in 14 different schools to help the delegates in their ministries. Speakers from Florida to California and Maine to Texas will bring their expertise to Pastors’ School. Delegates can choose from schools of Church Growth, Marriage Counseling, Music, Spanish, Addictions, or Deaf to name just a few. These classes are designed to give delegates the tools they need to help with specific areas with every things from those struggling with addictions to ministering to Spanish speaking people.

The main sessions, hosted by Pastor Schaap, will take place in First Baptist Church’s 7,500-seat auditorium located at 473 Sibley Street in Hammond, Indiana. Speaking in the evening sessions will be Dr. Jack Schaap, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hammond; Doug Fisher, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lemon Grove, California; Dr. David Gibbs, Jr., founder of Christian Law Association in Seminole, Florida; and Dr. Tom Williams, evangelist from Belgrade, Montana.

The Wednesday evening service will be open to the public. An emphasis on praying for our public officials and military will include a demonstration by the US Army Drill Team and a public address by Governor Mitch Daniels as well as Dr. David Gibbs, Jr. founder of the Christian Law Association.
