Hammond, Indiana (July 21-23)—Wednesday, July 21, will mark the beginning of the 38th Annual International Youth Conference hosted by First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. This three-day conference will pull nearly 7,000 teenagers and youth workers from around the world to Northwest Indiana.
The theme for this year's event is "Spiritual Revolution." Throughout history we have seen revolutions that have been started by people in desperate need to bring about a change. One of these revolutions, the American Revolution, resulted in the birth of a new nation with vision, while another revolution, the cultural revolution throughout the 60s, resulted in a decline of our morals.
This conference aims to equip young people and single adults for a spiritual revolution in their own lives. We have a highly experienced group of preachers who will challenge the teenagers in their walk with God, their relationships in life, and their responsibilities to the Great Commission. Our pastor, Dr. Jack Schaap, along with Dr. Eddie Lapina, Dr. Ray Young, Dr. Bob Hooker, Chris Tefft, Scott Gray, Stuart Mason, and Freddy De Anda will be speaking.
There will also be sessions geared toward the post-teen years in the Singles Conference. Along with great speakers there will be hilarious skits and many activities for the youths to enjoy, such as music and piano competition, 3-on-3 basketball, dodge ball, and paintball tournaments.
In addition to the full schedule, First Baptist Church will be having a Bus Demolition Derby at the Illiana Speedway in Schererville on Thursday, the 22nd. At the speedway the conference will be featuring Quintin Day and his Holy Roller monster truck. To finish out the evening, there will be fireworks and patriotic music to follow at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point.
The conference will be free to the public Wednesday evening. Those registering for the week may do so on Wednesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The cost of registration is $55 per person. The conference will start that evening at 5 p.m.
