Memory Lane Memorial Park Remembers the Veterans of the Cold War

Crown Point, Indiana (May 31, 2010)–This Memorial Day the Memory Lane Memorial Park is celebrating the veterans of the Cold War with special guest speaker Senator Mike Delph. Cold War veterans such as the men who served in Vietnam, Berlin Blockade, Korean War, Berlin Crisis of 1961, Cuban Missile Crisis, Soviet War in Afghanistan, and the Able Archer 83 will be remembered and honored. The First Baptist Church of Hammond and the Memory Lane Memorial Park will host a half-hour memorial service to recognize this special day.

The entire community is invited to attend the Memorial Day Service with Dr. Jack Schaap and First Baptist Church at the Memory Lane Memorial Park located at 6305 W. Lincoln Highway in Schererville, Indiana. Also participating will be the First Baptist Church Orchestra.

This event can be enjoyed by all. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will last until 10:30 a.m. This event is expected to draw over 1,000 people from the local area, and veterans have been invited to participate.

We will be having as our honored guest speaker Senator Mike Delph. Senator Delph has been an Indiana state senator since 2005. Since being in office, Senator Delph has served as a member of several civic activities, including the American Legion and AMVETS. The Senator has received several awards and honors, one of which was the 2006 Indiana Legislator of the Year from the Disabled American Veterans. Senator Delph is married and has five children.

There will be a special media session directly after the ceremony at 10:30 a.m., during which the press will be invited to take pictures as well as interview the veterans and Senator Delph. There will be refreshments inside the mausoleum conference room for anyone belonging to the press.
