First Baptist Church of Hammond Kicks Off Its Fall Program

On Sunday, October 11, the First Baptist Church of Hammond will start its annual Fall Program. This will be the first Sunday of a seven-week campaign, emphasizing the "Experience of FBC." First Baptist Church was just ranked in Outreach magazine as the 12th largest church in the nation and the largest in Indiana. This Fall Program the message will be, "Come experience a big church with an even bigger God."
The Main Auditorium was built in 2006 with a seating capacity of 7,500. Even though the church has filled the auditorium numerous times, during this campaign the church will be trying to fill the auditorium seven weeks in a row during its morning preaching service at 10:45 a.m.
For decades First Baptist Church has used a tiered service schedule, reusing several buildings throughout the day. The current Fall Program is no different. There are 22 services held each weekend, with multi-site services being held throughout the Chicagoland area. The largest services take place in First Baptist Church's 7,500-seat Main Auditorium with Pastor Schaap preaching and in the 4,500-seat Jack Hyles Memorial Auditorium for the Spanish-speaking members.
In recent weeks the church's pastor, Dr. Jack Schaap, has underscored to his congregation the urgency to "go, win, baptize, and teach" in an effort to reach the local community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The emphasis this October through November will be to reach our local community with the Gospel, while experiencing the largest church in the state of Indiana.
