South Holland Welcomes a New Community Member

May 14, 2009

South Holland, Illinois (May 13th 2009)—The city of South Holland has long been distinguished as a community of churches. They will be welcoming a new member that will add to this community with such strong roots in faith-based practices. The newest member is the First Baptist Church.

The entire community is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony with Mayor DeGraff at 1836 172nd Street in South Holland. Also participating will be South Holland Administrator Jay Wynsma, former board member Art Bennett, and business owners such as Kevin Williams from Wiretech and Bill Owens from The Owens Group. Tim DeVries of Scheeringa & DeVries will also be attending.

This event can be enjoyed by all. The First Baptist Church will be having a pig roast on the property, along with a service and a ceremony, all beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. There will be activities for all ages, and there is no cost to attend.

First Baptist plans on renovating the current building on the property and creating a new 5,000-square-foot auditorium, which will house the main sanctuary as well as all of the educational facilities. They will also be putting in a new parking lot and beautifying the property with landscaping to improve on its condition. Their projected date for moving into the facility will be by winter this year.

The new First Baptist Church in South Holland is funded and supported by the parent church, First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana, which is the largest church in the state of Indiana and the largest independent Baptist church in the U.S.

There will be a special media session directly after the ceremony at 4:35 p.m. during which the press will be invited to take pictures as well as ask Mayor DeGraff and Pastor Danny Brannon questions about the new church and its facilities.
