First Baptist Church Offers Gift of Music to the Community
December 5, 2008
Sunday, December 14, at 6 p.m., the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, presents "I Heard The Bells", a Christmas concert featuring a 50-piece orchestra and a 120-voice choir. A full evening of Christmas favorites, from the new to the traditional, has been planned, at no charge to the public.
"Christmas is a time of gift giving, and this program is our gift to the people of Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area," said choir director Mario Cuozzo.
The concert will be hosted and narrated by Pastor Jack Schaap and will include an appearance by special guest and gospel recording artist Bruce Frye. During his 30-year career, Bruce Frye was a Nashville-based musician who in his early years played with many of the nation's top country music artists. He and his band appeared in an episode of Matlock, a TV show featuring Andy Griffith. He will be singing "Almighty Lamb," the title track from his newly released Christmas album, along with other standard Christmas songs.
The entire family is welcome to "I Heard The Bells" on Sunday, December 14, beginning at 6 p.m. There is no charge for the event. The concert will be held in the 7,500-seat Main Auditorium of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. The church is located at 473 Sibley Street. A nursery will be provided for children ages three and under. Ample parking will also be available.
