Youth Conference 2008
July 10, 2008
On Wednesday, July 16, nearly 10,000 teens from across the country and around the world are expected at the First Baptist Church of Hammond for Youth Conference 2008. The three-day conference will run through Friday, July 18. The theme for this year's conference is "In Training to do the Hard Thing", designed to help today's youth develop the character they'll need to make tough choices ... and stand by those choices.
The nation's most dynamic youth speakers will provide candid, practical answers to today's teen problems. Jack Schaap, Eddie Lapina, Ray Young, Reno Likins, Chris Tefft, Rob Hicks, Bob Hooker, and seven other national preachers will fill this year's roster.
A tradition of hilarious skits, exciting music, and powerful sermons will dominate the schedule, along with some new features added. A new Singles Conference will be held for young adults aged 18 to 23, offering wisdom to those living in a time of transition. A youth orchestra comprised of 200 visiting delegates will perform a patriotic concert the night of Thursday, July 17, at the Hyles-Anderson College campus in Crown Point. A singing group competition will be another Thursday evening highlight. Other competitions will include 3-on-3 basketball, dodgeball, and paintball. Delegates will also enjoy food, carnival games, hayrides, and a fireworks spectacular by the lake.
The conference will be free to the public Wednesday evening. Those registering for the week may do so on Wednesday, beginning at 4 p.m. The conference will start that evening at 5 p.m. For more information, call 219-932-0711 and ask for Eddie Lapina, or go to www.youthconferencehammond.com.
