Learn a little more about First Baptist Church by getting to know some of our church
members!
Scott
Currin
Names and ages of your children: My wife, Allison, and I have two children: Alyssa, 2½, and Zachary, 9
months old.
Where is your hometown? I am originally from Creedmoor, North Carolina.
How long have you been a member of First Baptist Church? I joined the church in 2002.
Did you meet your wife here? Yes, I met my wife at Hyles-Anderson College.
Do you have any other relatives who attend our church? Yes, several members of my wife’s family are
members of our church. She is the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Doug Kalapp.
Comments about Pastor Jack Schaap: Pastor Schaap makes the Bible so simple to understand. His sermons
apply to everyone, no matter their age or stage in life.
Interesting story, incident, or answer to prayer: When our daughter was born, it was a medical miracle
that my wife and our daughter survived. Allison had the HELLP syndrome, her liver was failing, and her blood
pressure was so high that she could have bled to death. God intervened, and both are healthy!
Give us your salvation testimony: I was saved at the age of 12. After riding a very scary ride at an
amusement park, my pastor at the time asked me and a friend of mine what would have happened if we had died on
that ride. That put a fear in me, and the next week I walked the aisle and got saved!
Of what ministries are you a part? My wife and I work in “A” Teen Church, and we help Bro. Tony Merced
at a nursing home service in Hobart. I also preach at the RU Home once a month.

Additional comments about Scott Currin from one of our church staff men: “Scott has been an excellent
and loyal worker in our “A” Teen Church services from its inception in 2002. He’s a southern gentleman with a
great spirit and big smile. He and his wife, Allison, are great examples to our teens.”
